The Connick School/RNE Parent’s Association Mission
The Rince na h’Eireann Parents Association is an educational organization whose primary objective is to cultivate and share the love of Irish Dance. We make it our mission to focus on the dancers. All of our activities are initiated and carried out by volunteers, some of whom no longer have students actively dancing. The Parents Association seeks opportunities to present the art of irish dance to communities in NC and SC. Intrinsic in preserving the art is engaging students in opportunities to build competence in technique, form and presentation which is accomplished through instruction, independently adjudicated competition and performance. The RNEPA exists to ensure that each dancer can grow in his/her execution of traditional Irish dance as well as his/her understanding and appreciation of Irish culture. Through opportunities to perform for community groups, the dancers become well-versed in answering questions about dance, traditional costumes, and traditional music and are ready and able to share their love for this cultural art with children, adults, and seniors with self-assurance and poise. Because the ultimate achievement level of each dancer is determined by an external process, our goal is to provide each with the non-instructional tools – school costume, network support, music workshops, competition opportunities, performance and demonstrations with no consideration to family income, and without regard to dance level, to nurture his/her love for Irish dance.
